MACOMB, IL – Hononegah High School senior Collin Christensen, of Rockford, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Christensen said he will likely major in pre-physical therapy/athletic training at Western.

"I selected Western because of its proximity to home, its programs and its well-maintained facilities and campus," he said. "The deciding factor was the sheer affordability. A student should consider Western because of its excellent campus, modern facilities and reasonable price."

At Western, Christensen said he hopes to participate in a long distance running club and be active in Christian organizations on campus.

In high school, Christensen participated in cross country, track, the WYSE team and World Youth in Science and Engineering.

After graduation from WIU, Christensen plans to attend graduate school to pursue a doctorate degree in physical therapy.
