Young Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL – Rushville-Industry High School Senior Ayla Young, of Industry, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Young said she will likely major in art at Western.

"Not only is Western close to home, but there are great scholarship opportunities and a lot of interesting art programs offered," she said. "There are a lot of opportunities for students wanting to go into a variety of different fields."

At Western, Young said she hopes to participate in art-related programs and drama.

In high school, Young participated in the Art Club and Drama Club.

After graduation from WIU, Young plans to enter the field of digital animation.
