Goel to Speak at Western Friday

MACOMB, IL - Rajeev Goel, professor of economics at Illinois State University, will deliver a seminar as part of the Western Illinois University Department of Economics and Decision Sciences' 2013-2014 Seminar Series Friday, Oct. 4.

Goel will present "Effectiveness of Whistleblower Laws in Combating Corruption" from 2-3 p.m. in Stipes Hall, room 217 on the WIU-Macomb campus. In the talk, Goel will utilize econometric methods to discuss the
relationships between law and corruption in the United States

Goel is a leading researcher on the economics of corruption. He has published in top economics journals, including the American Journal of
Agricultural Economics, Kyklos, Managerial and Decision Economics, Research Policy, Economic Development and Cultural Change, and Journal
of Institutional and Theoretical Economics. He also serves on the editorial boards of three journals and has held positions at the Indian Institute of Management, Tata Energy Research Institute and Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

The seminar series is sponsored by the Department of Economics and Decision Sciences, the Visiting Lecturer Committee and WIU's College of Business and Technology.
