Fifth Annual Beerfest is Oct. 26 at The Forum

MACOMB, IL – For the fifth year, beer aficionados will gather at The Forum Saturday, Oct. 26 for the Performing Arts Society's (PAS) annual Macomb Beerfest celebration.

The annual beer tasting event runs from noon-6 p.m. and will feature more than 80 specialty brews from around the world and one special release beer sampled each hour.

The special release sampling list includes:

• 1 p.m. – A Pin of Something Really Cool
• 2 p.m. – Four Witches
• 3 p.m. - Barrel-aged "Wake Up Dead" stout
• 4 p.m. – Vertical Epic Ale
• 5 p.m. – Canadian Breakfast Stout

Beerfest admission for WIU students is $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Public admission is $10 in advance or $12 at the door.

Admission tickets are available at West Pierce Liquors on West Pierce Street or at the Hainline Theatre Box Office in Browne Hall. Tickets for tasting the various beers will be sold separately at the event for $1 each, six for $5 or 12 for $10.

All participants must be at least 21 years old to enter the event.

Beerfest is sponsored by West Pierce Liquors, The Forum and MarketPlace Selections of Peoria.

Mick Cumbie, director of development for the WIU College of Fine Arts and Communication, said the PAS is pleased with how the event has grown each year.

"We are extremely excited to host the fifth annual Beerfest," he said. "The event has grown in popularity from a couple of hundred people in the first year to more than 500 last year. This year promises to be even bigger."
