Annual WIU Marching Band Classic Set for Oct. 19

MACOMB, IL – The 32nd annual Western Illinois University Marching Band Classic, for high school bands, will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 on Hanson Field.

This annual event is a field competition in a two-division championship format. Overall champion trophies will be awarded in the small school division (Classes A and AA), as well as in the large school division (Classes AAA and AAAA). Trophies will be awarded to participating bands for placement in each class, as well as for best drum major(s), percussion, winds and auxiliaries.

High schools participating in the classic include:

Class A (Small school division):
2:15 p.m. – Hamilton
2:30 p.m. – Wethersfield
2:45 p.m. – Dunlap Cadet
3 p.m. – ROWVA

Class AA (Small school division):
3:30 p.m. – Auburn
3:45 p.m. – Watseka
4 p.m. – Tri Valley
4:15 p.m. – Macomb

Class AAA (Large school division):
5:15 p.m. – Rock Falls
5:30 p.m. – Jacksonville
5:45 p.m. – Metamora
6 p.m. – Rochelle
6:15 p.m. – Geneseo

Class AAAA (Large school division):
6:45 p.m. – Moline
7 p.m. – Galesburg
7:15 p.m. – Clinton
7:30 p.m. – Lasalle Peru
7:45 p.m. – Joliet West
8:15 p.m. – Maine West
8:30 p.m. – Washington
8:45 p.m. – Davenport Central
9 p.m. – Rock Island
9:15 p.m. Dunlap

WIU's Marching Leathernecks, under the direction of Associate Director of Bands Matt Thomas, will perform at 4:30 p.m. and at 9:30 p.m.
Admission is $7 for adults, $4 for students and children under age 5 are admitted free. WIU students, who provide valid identification, will be admitted free.
