Professional Illustrations, Student Graphic Designs on Display at WIU Art Gallery

MACOMB, IL - - The best of professional and student-created
illustrations and graphic designs will be on display in concurrent exhibits Tuesday, March 13 through Thursday, April 5 at the Western Illinois University Art Gallery.

The Society of Illustrators 2000-2001 Traveling Exhibition will feature 40 original works of illustration art of the annual national exhibition at the Museum of American Illustration in New York. Traditional media such as oils, watercolors and pen and ink are joined with scratchboard, linocut and digital forms to show the range of styles used for reproduction in magazines, books and print advertising. Clients for whom these illustrations were created include the U.S. Postal Service and the Denver Zoo and publications such as "The New Yorker," "Entertainment Weekly" and
the "Washington Post."

A second exhibit of graphic designs created by WIU art
students also will be on display.

The public is invited to the free opening reception from
6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 at the Art Gallery.

Western's Art Gallery, located just north of Sherman Hall, is open free to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays during exhibitions. Tours may be arranged.
