Switzer Obituary

MACOMB, IL – Former Western Illinois University Director of Graduate and Foreign Admissions Dolores K. Switzer, 91, passed away in Macomb Saturday, Oct. 20.

Switzer began her time at WIU in 1948, joining the staff as secretary to the registrar and eventually being promoted to registrar. In 1969 she was appointed the University's first director of graduate and foreign admissions, a job she held until her retirement in 1982.

Switzer was also an alumna of the University, receiving both her bachelor's and master's degrees from Western. She was a volunteer with the McDonough District Hospital Auxiliary, working in the hospital's surgical waiting room for more than 20 years, and served as secretary for the hospital's Health Careers Committee for 18 years.

In addition to her husband, Richard, Switzer is survived by one niece and three nephews.

Cremation will be accorded and burial will be at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.

Clugston Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
