Posmanick Named WIU's Lincoln Laureate

MACOMB, IL – Lindsey Posmanick, of Troy, IL, has been named the Western Illinois University recipient of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois' Student Laureate Award for 2013. The award, presented annually to an outstanding senior of each of Illinois' four-year degree-granting institutions, honors a student's overall academic excellence and extracurricular activities.

Posmanick is a senior women's studies major at Western, with minors in political science and pre-law.

She has also been named the Women's Studies Department Scholar, a Truman Scholar nominee, a College of Arts and Sciences Scholar nominee and was named to the Iota Iota Iota Women's Studies Honors Society, a President's Institute Office of Social Inequalities Research Associate and was invited to join the Blue Key and Golden Key Honors societies. She has also been awarded numerous scholarships, as well as awards for presenting at conferences and is a member of WIU's Centennial Honors College.

During the Spring 2013 semester, Posmanick spent a "Semester at Sea," studying abroad in Mexico, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar, India, Mauritius, South Africa, Ghana, Morocco and Spain.

Posmanick will be presented her Lincoln Laureate Award during an awards ceremony in Springfield on Saturday, Nov. 2.
