Local Project to Label Public Art to be Featured on 'Illinois Stories'

MACOMB, IL – A sculpture-naming project at Western Illinois University will be featured on upcoming editions of the PBS program "Illinois Stories."

Show host and producer Mark McDonald was on campus recently to interview current and former professors about the project, which was started with Professor Emeritus Gil Belles and seeks to add signage to public art at WIU and in Macomb that gives credit to the artists.

Belles was interviewed as part of the show as was Professor Emeritus of Art Bill Sanders, Department of Art Chairperson Charles Wright and sculpture Professor Duke Oursler.

"Illinois Stories" is broadcast on the regional PBS stations, which include WMEC, WQEC and WSEC.

The show will air Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m.
