MACOMB, IL -- The southwest quadrant of Western Illinois University will be affected by a brief electrical shutdown Saturday, Nov. 23. Electrical infrastructure contractors, in conjunction with WIU Facilities Management personnel, will complete electrical work from noon-3 p.m. as part of ongoing electrical infrastructure improvements project on the Macomb campus.

The buildings that will be affected by the electrical shutdown include the University Union, Beu Health Center, the Multicultural Center and Corbin, Olson, Sallee, Memorial, Browne and Knoblauch halls. While the southwest part of campus will be affected, the entire campus community should turn off all sensitive equipment (computers, monitors, etc) to protect the equipment in the event a campuswide power failure would occur. All campus electrical systems should be stable by 4 p.m. Saturday.

In addition to the electrical shutdown Nov. 23, chain link fencing will be installed at Sallee Hall's northeast corner as part of repair work that will begin next week. Construction is expected to be completed by Dec. 13, weather permitting.
