WIU Alumnus Wins Recreation Service Award

MACOMB, IL - Scott Vandermoon, a Western Illinois University alumnus, recently received the Illinois Intramural Recreational Sports Association Service Award at the organization's state workshop, hosted at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Vandermoon is currently employed as the assistant director of student employment at DePaul University, in the Department of Campus Recreation at the Ray Meyer Fitness and Recreation Center. He received his master's degree in sport management from WIU in 2006.

"As a graduate assistant in Campus Recreation at WIU, Scott was self-motivated and a driven individual while staying focused on preparing for our profession," said Judy Yeast, associate director of Campus Recreation. "His commitment to our values has made a positive impact on the recreational sport profession throughout our state as his leadership has served as a beacon for many to follow."

This award recognizes a member for consistent outstanding service and/or achievements in the profession to the State Association. Vandermoon served as president of IIRSA from 2011-2013, assistant state director from 2009-2011 and historian from 2006-2009.
