Maier Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL - Prairie Central High School senior Heidi Maier, of Forrest, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

Maier said she will likely major in music education at Western.

At Western, Maier said she hopes to participate in pep band, marching band and concert band, as well as alternate Spring Break programming.

In high school, Maier participated in band, choir, jazz band, madrigals, the school musical, FCCLA, National Honor Society, the Stafford Sharks Swim Team, AWANA, Children's Church, 4-H and the Bloomington-Normal Youth Symphony.

After graduation from WIU, Maier plans to begin a career teaching music, more specifically as a high school band director.
