WIU's Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center to host 28th MLK Celebration

MACOMB, IL – The Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center at Western Illinois University will host its 28th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. commemorative celebration Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Doors at the Multicultural Center open at 6:30 p.m. and the event begins at 7 p.m. This year's theme is "Remembering. Reflecting. Honoring the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr."

This year's keynote speaker is University Union Director Ann T. Comerford. Other speakers scheduled for this year's event include WIU Vice President of Student Services Gary Biller, Macomb Mayor Mike Inman, WIU Director of Student Activities Michelle Janisz, student Trustee Andre Ashmore and Student Government Association President Caleb Markey.

The event is open free to the public.
