Gardener's Day at WIU is March 15

MACOMB, IL - The University of Illinois Extension and McDonough County Master Gardeners will bring the 19th annual Gardener's Day to Western Illinois University's Macomb campus Saturday, March 15. The event will be held on the second floor of the University Union from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., with the option of half-day attendance.

Twelve classes will be offered this year, taught by horticultural experts and professionals. There are four sessions, each includes three classes with a variety of speakers and instructors. During breaks, participants can visit vendors who will be set up in the University Union Grand Ballroom.

Speakers include Martha Smith with "Ages and Stages of Gardening;" Chris Enroth, "Gardening for Pollinators;" Kyle Cecil, "Season Extension and others.

Registration is $40, which includes classes throughout the day, access to local vendors and speakers, lunch and door prizes. Registration for half-day attendance is $20 and will not include lunch. Participants are encouraged to register early as there is limited space available.

This event is open to the public, and anyone interested can call the McDonough County Extension office at (309) 837-3939 to request a brochure or to register for classes. Registration is also available online at web.extension.illinois.edu/hkmw/.
