MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University Veterans Resource Center, University Counseling Center, Beu Health Center, Department of Military Science and the Disability Resource Center will host a showing of the National Geographic documentary, "Restrepo," from 3 - 5 p.m. Thursday, April 3 in the University Union's Sandburg Theater.

"The documentary follows a platoon of United States soldiers into Afghanistan's Korengal Valley, which, in 2008, was known as "the deadliest place on earth."

This film increases awareness of the experiences of deployed soldiers. It concludes with stories of transition to civilian life for a number of soldiers.

The goal of this event is to bring student veterans, non-veterans, faculty and staff and administrators together to engage in discussions and help broaden the understanding of the student veteran population as they seek to fit into the campus community.

The event is open to all students, faculty, staff members and administrators. For more information, contact the Veterans Resource Center at (309) 298-3505 or email VeteransResources@wiu.edu.
