MACOMB, IL – The Performing Arts Society at Western Illinois University will present its annual "Diamonds and Denim" fundraising event Friday, Aug. 1 at The Forum in downtown Macomb.

This is the eighth year for the event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes the popular raffle of a one-carat round, brilliant cut diamond, donated by Sue Melton, owner of Diamond Den in downtown Macomb.

The diamond has a retail value of $4,000, and the raffle winner is responsible for any applicable taxes. Raffle tickets are $5 each, three for $10 or 10 for $20 and can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling (309) 298-1618.

Entertainment at this year's event will be provided by the Iowa band "Rock Steady," which describes itself as "the tri-state area's tightest, groovin'-est rock and dance band." The band features Macomb native Dennis Albee, who was inducted into the Iowa Music Association's Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Tickets for this year's Diamonds and Denim event are $10 and are available at the door or in advance in downtown Macomb at Diamond Den, Citizens Bank, The Barbershop, Nelson's Clothing or MidAmerica National Bank or at the WIU College of Fine Arts and Communication office in Browne Hall.

Light appetizers will be provided during the event by Hy-Vee Food Store of Macomb.

The Forum is located just off the northwest side of the Macomb square, at 124 N. Lafayette St.
