MOLINE, IL — Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will host a classroom unveiling ceremony to celebrate Modern Woodmen of America's ongoing commitment to the WIU-QC Riverfront Campus and to the region. The event is slated for 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18 at the Riverfront Campus, Quad Cities Complex, in Moline, and WIU Vice President for the Quad Cities and Planning Joe Rives and Modern Woodmen President Kenny Massey will speak.

Modern Woodmen, a fraternal financial services organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for its members, has made a $75,000 commitment to Phase II of the WIU-QC campus. In November 2009, Modern Woodmen made an initial $75,000 commitment for an electronic classroom for Phase I of the project.

"Our investment in the WIU-QC Riverfront campus is just one way we hope to improve the Quad Cities community," said Massey. "It's an honor to have a classroom named after Modern Woodmen. We look forward to the success of WIU and the positive impact this donation will have on students for years to come."

Modern Woodmen has been a leading contributor to a number of philanthropic projects in the Quad Cities area in western Illinois and eastern Iowa. The organization also supports communities and volunteerism throughout the U.S. through its local chapters and youth service clubs.

"Modern Woodmen has been an outstanding corporate partner. We are so appreciative of their commitment to the Western Illinois University-Quad Cities campus and our region," said WIU President Jack Thomas.

As a tax-exempt fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen sells life insurance, annuity and investment* products not to benefit stockholders, but to improve the quality of life of its stakeholders—members, their families and their communities. This is accomplished through social, charitable and volunteer activities. In 2013, Modern Woodmen and its members provided more than $20 million and nearly 507,600 volunteer hours for community projects nationwide.

"Much of our success is because of partners like Modern Woodmen and their dedication to higher education and their community," said Rives. "Again, we thank Modern Woodmen of America for this most recent donation."

Founded in 1883, Modern Woodmen touches lives and secures futures. The fraternal financial services organization offers financial products and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States.
