MACOMB, IL — This week at Western Illinois University's Leslie F. Malpass Library, something "cat"aclysmic is going to happen that will shake the established order to its foundations. According to University Libraries Professor William Thompson, the first, and perhaps only, International Internet Cat Video Film Festival (IICVFF) will take place starting at noon Wednesday Sept. 17 in the Malpass Library, room 180.

"We can hear the campus lumpen bourgeoisie saying, 'You cannot mean…' Oh, yes, we do mean. We absolutely do. This is a full frontal assault on seriousness. We are going to the silliness equivalent of DEFCON 1, e.g. an International Internet Cat Video Film Festival is imminent. This is not a test. It's the real thing. If you are in the mood for watching a cat wearing a shark costume defiantly riding a Roomba (and we know many of you are), then join us in Malpass 180 this Wednesday," Thompson said.

The festival will be curated by University Libraries Assistant Professor Krista Bowers Sharpe and Thompson quipped he will provide "pseudo intellectual blather" at the event.

"Library programming will return to its usual state of seriousness after this brief interruption," Thompson added.
