Bierman Named Interim Director of Business/Financial Services

MACOMB, IL – Matt Bierman, budget director at Western Illinois University, has been named the the interim director of business and financial services according to Julie DeWees, vice president of administrative services.

Bierman has served as the budget director since May 2012. He began working in Western's University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS) in 1999 as Bayliss-Henninger halls complex director. He was named director of residential facilities in 2008. In that role, he was responsible for a $40 million Auxiliary Facilities System budget, recommending room and board rates to the WIU Board of Trustees, and securing and monitoring bond revenue debt service. He was also responsible for overseeing all facilities for UHDS.

In his current role as university budget director, Bierman directs and oversees the preparation of the University's annual operating and capital budget submission to the Western Illinois Board of Trustees, Illinois Board of Higher Education, Governor's Office of Management and Budget, and the Illinois State Legislature. He is also responsible for developing, implementing, and communicating University financial and budgetary policies and procedures and providing interpretation and compliance.

As director of business and financial services, he will oversee Accounting, Billing and Receivables, Business Services, Payroll and Purchasing.

"Matt's experience will allow the University to maintain continuity in business and financial services until a permanent director is hired," DeWees said. "We appreciate Matt's willingness to add these interim duties to his responsibilities as budget director."
