Annual Marching Band Classic is Oct. 11

MACOMB, IL – The 33rd annual Western Illinois University Marching Band Classic, for high school bands, will be held Saturday, Oct. 11 on WIU's Hanson Field.

The event is a field competition in a two-division championship format. Overall champion trophies will be awarded in the small school division (Classes 1A and 2A), as well as in the large school division (Classes 3A and 4A). Trophies will be awarded to participating bands for placement in each class, as well as for best drum major or majors, percussion, winds and auxiliaries.

High schools participating in this year's event include:

Class 1A (Small school division):
3 p.m. - Orion
3:15 p.m. - Cambridge
3:30 p.m. - Wethersfield
3:45 p.m. - Hamilton
4 p.m. - Alwood
4:15 p.m. Prophetstown

Class 2A (Small school division):
4:45 p.m. - Maroa-Forsyth
5 p.m. - Auburn
5:15 p.m. - Sherrard
5:30 p.m. - Rockridge
5:45 p.m. - Macomb


Class 3A (Large school division):
6:30 p.m. - Jacksonville
6:45 p.m. - Pontiac
7 p.m. - Geneseo


Class 4A (Large school division):
7:30 p.m. - East Peoria
7:45 p.m. - Dunlap
8 p.m. - Moline
8:15 p.m. Davenport Central


Open class:

2:45 p.m. - Bushnell-Prairie City

WIU's Marching Leathernecks will perform throughout the day. Admission to the Classic is $7 for adults, $4 for students and children under age 5 are admitted free. WIU students will be admitted free with valid student identification.
