MACOMB, IL - - A Western Illinois University retired computer science professor and longtime resident of Macomb is challenging his community to make a difference. Chris Brix said he will match up to $1,000 in donations made to the McDonough County Humane Society (HSMC) as part of what the Humane Society is calling the The Brix Challenge.

The Brix Challenge will go through Friday, Oct. 31. Money raised will go to important HSMC initiatives, such as a reduced cost spay/neuter program, rescue foster program and a cat vaccine fund.

In response to Brix's generosity, the Humane Society is expanding the challenge to also see how many $1,000 donations can be received before the Oct. 31 deadline.

Anyone interested in donating to the The Brix Challenge can send a check to Humane Society of McDonough County, PO Box 7, Macomb, IL 61455, attention: The Brix Challenge, or visit hsmcil.org and use the PayPal option.
