MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University Assistant Professor Tammy Honesty has been awarded two prestigious regional theatre awards for her design work on a 2013 show at the Human Race Theatre Company in Dayton, OH.

Honesty was chosen for two Peggy Ezekiel Awards for "Outstanding Achievement" and "Board's Choice" for her work in "Becky's New Car." The awards mean Honesty's work will be part of 10 pieces chosen for a touring design exhibit through the United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and be displayed in the "Cover the Walls" exhibit at the USITT National Conference and Stage Expo in Cincinnati, OH, in March 2015.

"It is such an honor for my work to be recognized at the regional section of USITT," said Honesty. "I am proud to be a part of honoring the memory of Peggy S. Ezekiel, one of the four founding members of the Ohio Valley Section of USITT. This award was created to recognize and celebrate the amazing quality of work being produced in the region. It is exciting that my work will be part of a traveling touring design exhibit throughout Ohio and be on display at the USITT National Conference & Stage Expo."

The Peggy Ezekiel Awards were created in 1985 as a way to recognize and celebrate the quality of work being done by members of the USITT Ohio Valley Section (OVS) throughout the Ohio-Eastern Pennsylvania region. The awards are presented each fall during the OVS conference and include all areas of theatrical design and production.

Honesty has been teaching at the University level since 2005, and came to WIU this year to teach graduate and undergraduate classes. She specializes in scenic design, scenic art, props and stage management. She is also designing the sets for the first two shows of the WIU theatre season, "Top Girls" and "A Flea in Her Ear."

Honesty received her bachelor's degree in theatre from Wilmington College of Ohio and her MFA degree in scenic design from West Virginia University.
