MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University students currently living in the residence halls can renew their housing contracts via STARS and choose where they want to live beginning Friday, Jan. 30. Students not currently living on campus should visit the University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS) office in Seal Hall to complete a 2015-2016 housing application.

During the online renewal process, students can select the exact room and roommate they want for the 2015-2016 academic year. Lincoln and Washington halls are designed as single and super-single rooms, with an optional meal plan.

"Several living learning communities are available for renewal, including art, broadcasting, honors and international. Students interested in moving to a new living learning community should contact the academic adviser for the department hosting the community," John Biernbaum, associate vice president of student services, said.

Bayliss, Henninger and Tanner halls will remain first year residence halls and are not available for renewal.

Students currently living in first year residence halls who are interested in scheduling a tour of Corbin, Olson, Lincoln, Washington, Grote and Thompson halls should call UHDS at (309) 298-3000. Appointments are available Tuesday-Thursday, Jan. 27-29.

Students who are eligible to keep their same room assignment and wish to renew can do so through Monday, February 2.

Graduate and senior student housing renewal (for new room assignments) begins Wednesday, Feb. 4, followed by junior student renewal Thursday, Feb. 5 and sophomore students Friday, Feb. 6. New room renewal assignments for freshmen will be held Monday, Feb. 9 and Tuesday, Feb. 10. Renew by visiting the "UHDS Housing Information Menu" screen on STARS. At the time of renewal, students can select their roommate. The requested roommate has one day to confirm the request.

Individual renewal times will be emailed to students on Monday, Jan. 26. Students should plan accordingly with their roommate and floor communities to enter the system as soon as possible for the best chance to obtain first choice. Students can continue to make changes, and renew, during the open renewal period from Feb. 11-27.

Students with less than 60 hours of academic credit or less than four semesters of living on campus are required to live on campus. A non-compliance charge (equal to a student's double room rate) will be imposed if a student does not fulfill this requirement. For students who are eligible to live off campus, Sunday, March 1 is the last day to revoke the housing contract without penalty (equal to the double room rate).
