MACOMB, IL - - The Office of Equal Opportunity and Access at Western Illinois University has launched a campaign to educate the University community about Title IX.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs or activities operated by recipients of federal financial assistance.

"As WIU's Title IX coordinator, it is my responsibility to ensure there is a fair and equitable process in place for addressing sex discrimination, including sexual violence. If you or someone you know has experienced sex discrimination, you have rights," said Andrea Henderson, Title IX coordinator and director of equal opportunity and access.

The campaign—which includes posters on campus and will be shared via social media, too—will allow the University community to see the effects Title IX has had on various individuals at WIU.
