Shumate to Perform Faculty Recital March 29

MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University's School of Music Assistant Professor of Voice Penelope Shumate will perform a Faculty Voice Recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

Accompanying Shumate will be Associate Professor of Piano Jeffrey Brown. They will be performing works by Argento, Debussy, Mozart and Zelter.

The New York Times has praised Shumate's singing with having "bell-like clarity and surpassing sweetness." Her recent engagements include her debut and return appearances in Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in New York City, where she has also appeared in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center.

The event is free and open to the public.
