MACOMB, IL — The Western Illinois University Department of History and University Libraries will present the third annual Women's History Month (WHM) discussion panel, "Weaving the Stories of Their Lives: Five Women Activists and Reformers from Around the World," at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26 in the Leslie F. Malpass Library's Garden Lounge. The event is open free to the public.

Five professors from Western's history department will present the compelling life stories of women involved in activism and reform, in locations ranging from North America to Europe to East Asia, and from medieval times through modern times. Speakers will include Ginny Boynton, professor; Jen McNabb, professor; Ginny Jelatis, associate professor; Febe Pamonag, associate professor; and Ute Chamberlin, associate professor, all of whom are specialists in women's and gender history.

According to University Libraries' Outreach Librarian Christina Norton, comparing the lives of women living in such disparate contexts will allow attendees to see not only how the specifics of place and culture affect women's experiences, but also the similarities in the challenges they face.

The panel is part of a larger series of programs for Women's History Month, coordinated by the WIU Women's Center. More information about other WHM events is available at http://bit.ly/WHMWIU15.

For more information about the discussion panel, contact Chamberlin at UE-Chamberlin@wiu.edu.
