MACOMB/MOLINE, IL -- Beginning this summer, elementary, junior high and high school students who take part in summer camp experiences at Western Illinois University's Macomb and Quad Cities campuses will have a new benefit provided that will help prepare for college.

The WIU Office of Undergraduate Admissions is offering any student, from 4th-12th grade, who attends a summer camp at WIU (including organizations that hold their camps at WIU), a voucher to take a residual ACT test at no cost at Western's Counseling Center.

According to Admissions Director Andy Borst, students who are not yet high school age can take the ACT at the appropriate time in their high school careers. The residual ACT score is good only for WIU admission and may not be used as an official ACT score at another college or university.

"Many of our summer camp participants, from sports to music to academic camps, come back to our University year after year for these camp experiences. They know the quality instruction, programs and facilities that WIU offers," Borst added. "It's time to give these prospective students an even greater incentive to consider Western as 'their' university when it comes time to begin deciding on a college."

More information about summer camp opportunities at WIU is available at wiu.edu/campsconferences. For more information on the residual ACT voucher for camp participants, contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at (309) 298-3157 or email admissions@wiu.edu.
