MACOMB, IL - - The Western Illinois University Council of Academic Advisor (COAA) Awards and Recognition Committee named Andria Potter the March Academic Advisor of the Month.

Three people nominated Potter, an academic advisor in the engineering technology department at WIU.

"It is with great pride that I tell parents and prospective students that programs in the engineering technology department have a great advisor and one that takes interest in each and every student," said Ray Diez, chairperson of the engineering technology department.

Debbie Collins, a medical assistant at Beu Health Center, is also a parent of one of Potter's students. Collins said she nominated Potter because she believes that, "When an advisor changes a life and retains a student, that advisor deserves recognition."

A senior engineering technology student of Potter's at the WIU Quad Cities campus, Timothy Maccall said that Potter has influenced his time at WIU.

"She is by far the best advisor I have dealt with during my college career," Maccall said.

The purpose of COAA is to promote the quality of academic advising at Western Illinois University.
