Fili Awarded WIU President's Scholarship

MACOMB, IL – Spoon River Valley High School senior Shea Fili, of London Mills, IL, has been awarded a President's Scholarship to Western Illinois University, which covers four years of tuition, fees and residence hall room and meal plan at the school.

Fili plans to double major in biochemistry and acting.

In high school, she participated in the speech, drama, art and science clubs, plays, National Honor Society, volleyball, track, WYSE and Scholastic Bowl. At Western, Fili hopes to participate in theatre, choir, science clubs and equal rights organizations.

After graduation from WIU, Fili hopes to attend graduate school or medical school and pursue a career in medical research.

The Western Illinois University President's Scholarship Fund has provided more than $500,000 in scholarships to more than 225 students. To qualify, students must have a minimum ACT score of 32 and have already received WIU's Centennial Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by proof of volunteer and community service.
