MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University's Office of Public Safety (OPS) has been recognized for meeting the requirements of the Illinois Law Enforcement Agencies (ILEAS) Agency Preparedness Program (APP).

The Agency Preparedness Program (APP) is designed to assist law enforcement agencies in Illinois to be ready to effectively respond to emergency situations, and to utilize human and technical resources, available through the mutual aid alliance, to manage emergencies. The APP is completed online by ILEAS member agencies and requires demonstration of best practices set forth by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Illinois Emergency Management Agency.

"While participation in this program is voluntary, we believe it is an essential part of the service we provide to the campus and local communities. I would like to thank Lt. Tom Clark and Sgt. Dan Kreps for their efforts on this project, which allowed us to obtain ILEAS certification in the Agency Preparedness Program," said OPS Director Scott Harris. "Law enforcement agencies should be prepared, and trained, for any situation, and programs such as this allow us to further enhance our skills and knowledge so that we can serve our communities to the best of our abilities."
