MACOMB, IL — Western Illinois University School of Agriculture's Joel Gruver and members of the Macomb Community Garden distributed plants to Heritage Days parade goers in Macomb last Saturday.

Gruver, an associate professor and director of Western's Allison Organic Research and Demonstration Farm, is currently the president of the Macomb Community Garden (located on East Wheeler St., north of HyVee in Macomb). He said the plant giveaway during the parade this year was the eighth annual plant distribution.

"My late wife, Lisa, and I organized the first plant distribution in 2008," noted Gruver.
