MACOMB, IL — If you're at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur (IL) this week, you can help the Western Illinois University School of Agriculture by voting for it! At the Sept. 1-3 Show, Farm Credit Illinois will announce a special $100,000 centennial gift to Illinois agriculture.

According to Farm Credit Illinois Vice President of Marketplace Engagement Rod Stoll, Farm Credit Illinois has chosen the WIU School of Ag as one of 10 agriculture organizations to receive part of the gift, and the company is asking Farm Progress Show attendees to "Designate the Dollars."

"We will ask visitors to the First Credit Illinois tent to complete a brief survey to vote for one of 10 different Illinois agricultural organizations. For every percent of the votes received, each organization will receive $1,000 at the end of the show," Stoll explained.

The check presentation will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 on the Farm Credit stage at the show.

WIU School of Agriculture Director Andy Baker is encouraging those who attend the Farm Progress Show (see farmprogressshow.com for more information) to visit the Farm Credit Illinois tent and to vote for the WIU School of Ag there.

"This opportunity couldn't have come at a better time for the School of Agriculture. We have several major projects we are currently working on, such as working toward the expansion of our greenhouse complex and replacing the data collection system in the Bull Test Station, and we always have equipment replacement needs. We are always looking for ways to upgrade our University farm facilities, as well," Baker noted. "We are extremely fortunate to have Farm Credit designate us as one of the ten agricultural organizations to receive funding. We would like to encourage all of our supporters to go out and vote for us by visiting the Farm Credit tent if you are planning to attend the Farm Progress Show. Think Purple! Think Agriculture! Think Western!"
