MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University is once again waiving the $30 application fee for area high school students who apply to WIU.

Those graduating seniors who apply for admission to Western for the Fall 2016 semester will have the University's application fee waived. The eligible counties include high schools in Adams, Brown, Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, Schuyler and Warren.

In addition to the application fee waiver, an automatic scholarship covering two-thirds of tuition costs is offered to high school seniors from the nine-county region who choose to attend WIU classes prior to high school graduation. More information about the tuition discount is available at wiu.edu/highschool.

Any student who attended a 2015 summer camp at WIU also received a voucher to to take a residual ACT test at no cost at Western's Counseling Center. The residual ACT score is good only for WIU admission and may not be used as an official ACT score at another college or university.

For those area students who are in college search mode, the annual Illinois Regional College Fair will be held at Western Thursday, Sept. 10. The fair, which will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. in the WIU Donald S. Spencer Student Recreation Center, will feature representatives from Western Illinois University and 46 other public and private Midwestern universities, as well as representatives from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

For more information, including college search tips and the complete list of participating schools, visit wiu.edu/student_services/undergraduate_admissions/prospective/ircf.

WIU admissions staff will also visit local high schools throughout the semester, with follow-up visits in Spring 2016.

High school seniors may apply to Western for the Fall 2016 semester now, with acceptance letters going out after Labor Day. To apply to WIU, visit wiu.edu/apply. Local students should select the fee waiver option on the payment screen and the $30 will not be applied based on the high school attended.
