Psychology Department Hosts Open Houses Oct. 30

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of Psychology will host open houses for prospective undergraduate and graduate psychology students and their guests Friday, Oct. 30.

High school and college students from around the region have been invited to attend a series of events designed to inform them about psychology majors, minors, career options and graduate school options in the field of psychology.

Registration for the undergraduate open house begins at 9:30 a.m. on the first floor of Waggoner Hall. Events to follow, located in Waggoner Hall, room 54 (basement), begin at 10 a.m. and include an introduction to the major options in psychology at Western, a mock lecture, information about careers in psychology, tours of research labs, and psychology minors available.

The psychology graduate school open house begins at noon in Waggoner Hall, room 171. Informational sessions will run throughout the day on topics such as graduate programs at Western, paying for graduate school and graduate student experiences.

Both open houses wrap up with a research presentation by Psychology Department Chair Karen Sears, titled "The Role of Emotion in Workplace Incivility," at 3 p.m. in Wagoner Hall, room 170.
