Huston Awarded Centennial Honors Scholarship

MACOMB, IL – Freeburg (IL) Community High School senior Addie Huston has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

"For my brief visit I was instantly hooked," said Huston of WIU. "I walked in the doors and was flooded with kindness. WIU also has an excellent forensics program that I am very interested in."

Huston said she expects to major in pre-med at Western.

After graduation from Western, Huston hopes to move on to medical school or move into a career as a forensic anthropologist, osetologist or coroner.

In high school, Huston participated in soccer; volleyball; the science, service and art clubs; National Honors Society; Fellowship of Christian Athletes; Students Against Destructive Decisions; SAVE; FCCLA; Saturday Scholars; the yearbook committee; math team and literary club.
