MACOMB, IL – Havana (IL) High School senior Stephanie Roch has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students.

High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

"I chose Western because I am a jazz musician and I really enjoyed the summer programs for jazz at the school," said Roch. "Western has a lot of different majors and extracurricular activities, so there is something for everyone."

Roch said she expects to major in music education at Western.

After graduation from Western, Roch hopes to teach music at a high school while getting her master's degree. She would also like to direct a college jazz ensemble.

In high school, Roch participated in band, chorus, jazz band, drama, Spanish and interact clubs, student council and scholastic bowl.
