MACOMB, IL – Western Illinois University Administrative Clerk Cindy Lotz, of the WIU Provost and Academic Vice President's Office, has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for December.

Lotz was first hired at WIU in 1987 as a word processing operator III in the Office of Institutional Research and Planning. After resigning in 1989, she returned to WIU in 2013 to her current position.

According to Lotz's nominator, she "has the most positive and optimistic attitude of any person he/she has had the pleasure to work with."

"(Lotz) has a fundamental work ethic and discipline and is willing to be flexible and be a team player with everyone involved," said the nominator.

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

The WIU Foundation provides a $500 stipend for the Civil Service Employee of the Year. Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for the monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) representative Alisha Looney at AA-Looney@wiu.edu.
