MACOMB, IL – As part of the Western Illinois University Outreach and Learning is Forever (LIFE) programs, WIU Voice Professor Emerita Marietta Dean and visiting pianist Anna Wagner will present "Music from Schubert's Final Years" at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the First Presbyterian Church.

Wagner is a pianist emerita from the University of Vienna (Austria) School of Music.

This is the third session of the LIFE course, and Dean, a Mezzo-soprano, and Wagner will perform music written from the creatively bountiful years of 1826-1828, the year of the young genius's death following tragic illness.

Wagner, who has recorded CDs of Lieder with Wolfgang Holzmeier and toured Europe and Asia, will accompany Dean in songs to texts of Shakespeare, Seidl, Muelleer and Rellstab and perform two sets of "Impromptus" for solo piano. This recital, with commentary and open questions, will be followed by a reception.

The event is open free to the public and the University community.
