Two WIU Students Win First Place in Intercollegiate Broadcasting Awards

MACOMB, IL – Two students from Western Illinois University's Department of Broadcasting won first place awards during the 76th annual Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS) Conference March 5 in New York (NY).
Emily Manley, a junior broadcasting major from Highland (IL), won first place for her radio story, "Downtown," in the Best Community News category. Sam Jensen, a senior broadcasting major from Joliet (IL), won first place in the category for Best Newscast for his Oct. 29 radio news report.
Jenson, along with Lonnie Wilkins, a senior broadcasting major from Wilmington (IL), also received recognition as finalists in the Most Creative Program category for their show "Throwback Thursday" on WIUS-FM.
