WIU Office of Student Activities Hosts Leadership Awards Ceremony

MACOMB, IL - The Western Illinois University Office of Student Activities (OSA) hosted the 2015-16 Student Leadership Awards Ceremony Monday, April 18.

Through these awards, the OSA acknowledges outstanding student leaders and organizations from across campus who have exemplified what it means to be a leader and a Leatherneck.

In addition, the Student Government Association (SGA) recognized three students for outstanding service and the 2016-17 officers were inaugurated.

Individual Awards:

William E. Brattain Award:
Vanessa Redpath, a senior special education major from Viola (IL)

W. Garry Johnson Award for Excellence in Student Governance: Esmeralda Moreno, a senior communication major from Peoria (IL)

W. Garry Johnson Award for Excellence in Student Governance: Aaron Terrile, a senior political science major from Chicago (IL)

W. Garry Johnson Award for Excellence in Student Governance: Rachel Wirt, a senior human resource management major from Hillsdale (IL)

Gordon A. Taylor Student Leadership Award: Angela Elzer, a senior geology major from Marseilles (IL)

Gordon A. Taylor Student Leadership Award: Kaylee McAllister, a senior sociology major from New Holland (IL)

Gordon A. Taylor Student Leadership Award: Gina Meier, a senior biology major from Davenport (IA)

Gordon A. Taylor Student Leadership Award: Alex Rogers, a law enforcement and justice administration graduate student from Elk Grove Village (IL)

Gordon A. Taylor Student Leadership Award: Bridget Williams, a senior biology major from Orland Park (IL)

Ralph H. Wagoner Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service on Behalf of WIU: Kelly Shoppa, a senior dietetics major from Macomb

Ronald D. Gierhan Award for Outstanding Quiet Influence by an Individual: Rebecca Haughey, a sophomore forensic chemistry major from Algonquin (IL)

Cari Sheppard Emerging Student Leader Award: Jeffrey Waisgains, a freshman forensic chemistry major from Mount Prospect (IL)
