MACOMB, IL - - Andrea Riebling, a Western Illinois University College of Business and Technology academic advisor, has been named the 2015-16 First Year Experience (FYE) Advisor of the Year.

The award is given to one individual per year who has displayed excellence in advising, demonstrated creative advising methods and has reflected the mission and goals of the FYE program, which include assisting first-year students in their successful WIU matriculation.

Riebling was nominated by Rome Hamm, a freshman business major, and her mother, Annette Hamm, because she was successful in helping Rome transition to WIU.

"When my daughter was having concerns about her major, we met with Andrea. She immediately made us both feel at ease," said Annette. "Rome and I felt very confident that we were getting the very best and most accurate information when we spoke with her.

"I feel confident that Andrea gives the same 110 percent to every freshman student who walks through her door," Annette added. "She has a calm, reassuring manner that is so relaxing that I'm sure she puts all of her advisees at ease. Her above-and-beyond efforts to ease the transition of even just my daughter are deserving of recognition and praise."
