MACOMB, IL - - Area high school students demonstrated their financial accounting knowledge at Western Illinois University recently at the 11th Annual Accounting Challenge.

Sponsored by WIU's accountancy department, Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) and the Illinois CPA Society, the event not only provided area students a chance to showcase their accounting skills through a written competition, but it also provided them with information about Western's accountancy department and College of Business and Technology. For the annual event, six area high schools and a total of 67 students competed. Western awarded scholarships to each first, second and third place individual winner choosing to major in accounting at WIU.

The participating high schools were Macomb, Knoxville, Spoon River Valley, Rushville-Industry, Williamsfield and United.

While the students were testing, an education round table was conducted for the instructors, which was led by Gregg Woodruff, chair of the accounting and finance department.
