MACOMB, IL - Western Illinois University Professor Jennifer McNabb has been named interim chair of the WIU Department of History, according to College of Arts and Sciences Dean Susan Martinelli-Fernandez.

McNabb joined WIU's faculty in 2005 as an assistant professor of history. She has also served as the associate director of WIU's Centennial Honors College.

"Professor McNabb brings energy, expertise and a commitment to academic excellence," said Martinelli-Fernandez. "I look forward to working with Dr. McNabb and thank her for her willingness to serve her department."

She also serves on numerous campus committees and as advisor for a variety of academic service organizations for students.

"I look forward to serving the students of WIU and my colleagues in this new role and am delighted to have the opportunity to promote the importance and vitality of history at Western as interim chair," McNabb said.

In addition to her academic work, McNabb has received numerous awards for her teaching and her work on campus, including being chosen to deliver the 10th annual John Hallwas Liberal Arts Lecture in 2012 and being honored for her work with the International Golden Key Honorary Society and Western's Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, as well as receiving the Provost's Award for Academic Excellence in University/Community Service in 2012.
