MOLINE, IL - The Quad City Health Initiative is recognizing the Western Illinois University-Quad Cities campus as a "Be Healthy QC Workplace."

The program was developed in recognition of worksites in the Rock Island and Scott County area. Worksites that are recognized have chosen to implement evidenced-based best practices promoting physical activity, nutrition, tobacco cessation and/or overall employee health and well being.

"The qualities that earned us the recognition are things we do because we feel they are important for our students, faculty and staff. It was only after these things became part of our culture that a faculty member pointed us towards the application for the recognition," states Deborah Kepple-Mamros, assistant vice president for Quad Cities and Planning.

The Quad Cities campus has shown progress in at least half of the "Be Healthy QC Workplace" wellness benchmarks in order to gain this recognition. The core value of Western Illinois University in social responsibility is consistent with the mission of the Health Initiative to engage in movement towards healthy practices.
