Dear WIU Community,

As National Campus Safety Awareness Month came to a close Sept. 30, the Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety would like to thank the campus community for participating in safety programs and initiatives, and for working along side OPS to keep our campus safe.

Our appreciation goes out to you:
• if you were one of the 2,042 individuals who attended any of the 30 programs sponsored by the Office of Public Safety during September. This is more than 2.5 times the number of individuals who attended programming during 2015 Campus Safety Awareness Month.
• if you attended the Coffee with A Cop in the Bay-Hen Dining Center in September.
• if you were one of the 22 individuals who used public safety escorts during September.
• if you practiced one of our many safety guidelines -- locking your residence door and vehicles, not leaving property unattended in common areas, not walking alone, looking out for your friends and more, or if you were of the many students highlighted on OPS' Facebook page for using any of our services and/or being a proactive and safe member of our campus community.
• if you signed up for the Fall 2016 RAD class.
• if you saw something out of the ordinary and contacted the Office of Public Safety in the interest of community welfare.

By working together we can keep our campus safe for everyone. For safety news, tips and videos, visit the Office of Public Safety webpage wiu.edu/ops and our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/wiupd.

Requests for safety programming can be made by calling OPS at (309) 298-1949 or emailing PublicSafety@wiu.edu.

Sincerely,

Scott Harris
Director
Office of Public Safety
