Social Entrepreneurship Salon Oct. 26: Sustainable Partnerships in Floreciente

MOLINE, IL -- Western Illinois University-Quad Cities will present "Sustainable Partnerships in Floreciente" at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 as part of the WIU-QC Liberal Arts and Sciences Student Organization (LASSO) Social Entrepreneurship Salon Series.

The Oct. 26 presentation, which will be held in Riverfront Hall, rooms 103-104, will feature Annisa Wanat, Global Communities project director; Jeff Anderson, City of Moline city planner; Mary Chappell, revitalization director of Habitat for Humanity; and Phylicia Manley, WIU Peace Corps Fellow. The panel will discuss efforts to organize the residents and business owners of the City of Moline's Floreciente District, one of Moline's oldest neighborhoods, to participate in community and economic development activities that will benefit the district.

The Salon Series is open free to the campus community and general public.

According to WIU College of Art and Sciences Assistant Dean James Rabchuk, the series, presented by the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business and Technology, is designed to bring together thinkers and practitioners to network and exchange ideas related to social entrepreneurship initiatives that serve the Quad Cities area.
