Michael Jacobson Obituary

MACOMB, IL -- Former Western Illinois University elementary education and reading associate professor Michael Jacobson, 72, of Carolina Shore, NC, formerly of Springfield, passed away Oct. 21.
Graveside funeral services will be held today at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
Jacobson joined the WIU elementary education and reading department (now curriculum and instruction) in 1984, where he taught social studies education. He also served as acting chair of the department. Jacobson left Western in 1996 and joined the curriculum and instruction faculty at Appalachian State University, where he taught for 18 years, retiring in June 2014. Jacobson also served as chair of the department at ASU.
