Slater Named Director of uTech-User Support Services

MACOMB, IL -- Rebecca Slater, former information security officer at Memorial Health System (Springfield, IL), has been named director of University Technology-User Support Services at Western Illinois University.

Slater, who began her duties at WIU Jan. 3, had served as the information security officer, Memorial Health System, since 2013. In her role at Western, she will oversee the help desk, desktop support, classroom support services and uTech labs.

"Rebecca has extensive experience in user support, compliance, risk management, business continuity and more. She is customer-oriented and has a proven track record of working with a technologically-diverse population," noted uTech CIO Stephen Frazier. "Her knowledge of IT best practices will help increase overall user satisfaction at the University."

Previously, she served as the information system security administrator, Memorial Health System (2012-13), and in various positions at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, including business continuity coordinator, project manager and as an information security application analyst (2007-12).

Slater earned her MBA (IT management) from Western Governors University and her B.A. in business administration from Lindenwood University.
