Note to Returning Students: Winter Weather

MACOMB, IL -- Western Illinois University advises students who are returning to Macomb this weekend for the Spring 2017 semester to use caution while traveling due to the forecasted inclement winter weather. Residence halls open at noon Sunday, Jan. 15 and classes begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a winter storm watch has been issued for McDonough and surrounding counties. The NWS watch indicates a winter storm may bring ice and snow into the region Sunday into Monday. The forecast calls for freezing rain, sleet and light snow into early Monday, Jan. 16. The service also indicates there remains a potential for significant ice accumulations over northeast Missouri, southwest Iowa and west central Illinois. Further changes to the forecast are possible.
