MACOMB, IL -- You have the rest of your life to live off campus ... live life on.

Housing renewal for current Western Illinois University students wishing to live on campus for the 2017-2018 academic year will begin Friday, Jan. 27. Students will receive their individual renewal time via email Jan. 25. Based on where students wish to live and the number of semester hours accrued, students will be assigned renewal times on the following schedule:

- Same hall/same room (for qualified students): Jan. 27-Jan. 30
- Same hall/different room (for qualified students): Jan. 31
- Group moves: Feb. 1
- Graduate student/seniors: Feb. 2
- Juniors: Feb. 3
- Sophomores: Feb. 6
- Freshmen: Feb. 7-8
- Open Renewal: Feb. 9-28

Again this year, University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS) will offer students the opportunity to request a group move. Groups of six or more students can request housing on the same residence hall floor and can begin the renewal process Wednesday, Feb. 1. This new option gives students more flexibility as they make housing decisions for the 2017-2018 academic year.

UHDS housing ambassadors will host scheduled tours of the upper-division residence halls starting Wednesday, Jan. 18. Tours, which are by appointment, can be scheduled by calling (309) 298-3000. Housing ambassadors will also be available within the residence halls and in the University Union throughout January and February to answer questions about housing renewal and on-campus living.

Students who are not required to live on campus and wish to cancel their housing contract must do so by March 1 to avoid a contract breakage fee equal to the double room rate.

For more information about housing renewal, visit wiu.edu/livelifeon or contact UHDS at (309) 298-3000 or housing@wiu.edu.
